Now, we're entering a new phase of growth and are looking for a Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Support to contribute to the next wave of system and tool development for our upcoming product lines. The ideal candidate will thrive working in an innovative and fast-paced work environment, have excellent critical thinking skills, and will play a pivotal role ensuring seamless execution of hardware engineering design projects within a fast paced, production focused environment. This individual will contribute to all aspects of the product life cycle with a focus on the design and implementation of hardware systems that ensure quality and facilitate efficient integration during product manufacturing and sustainment of a variety of sUAS systems.

What You'll Do

  • Review and devise manufacturing specifications for products and processes concurrently with design engineering teams
  • Review, advise, and assist product development practices and procedures to identify DFX (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test) implementation
  • Write and maintain work instructions for sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and fixtures/jigs
  • Assist Quality Control to ensure conformance requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance through the production process
  • Maintain accurate documentation including managing redlined drawings on the production floor, through the ERP and CM tools
  • Play an active role in the RCCA (root cause corrective action) process as pertains to production

Requirements

  • Experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills to train production staff as required
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Conscientious and responsible with a sense of urgency accustomed to accelerated changes
  • Excellent fabrication and assembly skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach, i.e., plan, research, design, execution, adjust
  • Experience on BOM, part number generation, and revision control
  • Demonstrated experience with successfully implementing the NPI transition and product release process
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

Preferred

  • 5+ years of work experience in design and development of electromechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Experience in UAV aircrafts, robotics development, and/or hobby drones.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about regularly throughout the day and lift / carry up to 50 pounds. Must have manual dexterity to operate standard machine shop equipment as well as standard office equipment.Must be physically capable of tolerating loud noise, heat, cold, dust, or chemicals (with PPE).

Work Environment

This position typically operates in a standard office setting and manufacturing environment. This role requires use of standard office equipment and may involve exposure to loud noise, heat, cold, dust, or chemicals (with PPE) and may require occasional travel to test sites/customer locations/supplier facilities. This position may have exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and non-climate-controlled environments. May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on the environment. This is a fast-paced work environment and requires cross departmental collaboration with independent and team-based responsibilities. Standard works hours for this position are 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional overtime as operational needs demand.
