Position Summary |
The Transfer Admissions Counselor position is directly responsible for the management of a designated caseload of prospective students with the primary goal of moving them through the admission process, consisting of: lead generation and converting on-campus prospective student inquiries to applicants, and ultimately to enrolled students; visit community colleges; attend regional college fairs representing
USF; and build relationships with community college counselors and appropriate academic departments. |
Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
* Primary responsibility of conducting student-centered on and off campus recruitment initiatives including presentations, personal interviews, transcript evaluations, financial aid counseling, registration of students, and other related admission counselor duties.
* Effectively manage a territory by analyzing data to determine which schools, college fairs and students to strategically target, and which territorial strategies will be most effective in each market.
* Develop relationships with area community college counselors, key academic department chairs, transfer center coordinators and other appropriate school and community stakeholders to further develop their understanding of the University and its programs.
* Work closely with other University offices to enhance their involvement in the recruitment process, including the creation of partnerships with the college offices, student organization, and individual academic departments.
* Meet goals and objectives for an assigned area.
* Complete accurate transfer credit evaluations and maintain current knowledge relative to transfer credit policies as stated by the Registrar and other University officials
* Review and evaluate student admission applications for admission and scholarship opportunities.
* Act as liaison between admitted transfer students and the academic advising office
* Develop and cultivate relationships with students/families through on-campus and off-campus recruitment events such as Open Houses, Visit Days, Scholarship Days, and Student Orientation and Registration.
* Manage Student Ambassador Assistant to follow-up with applicants.
* Utilize and manage social media for student recruitment, including but not limited to Facebook and Instagram.
* Participate in professional organizations and professional development opportunities to maintain current on trends in college admissions.
* Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement
* Other responsibilities will be assigned as necessary. |
Minimum Requirements |
* Bachelor's degree with at least one year of experience working at a college or university in an college recruitment/admissions position.
* Ability to build relationships and network with other university personnel, parents, students, community college counselors, community college faculty, alumni, and other affiliates.
* Proven organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
* Must be a creative and energetic person committed to working in a team environment.
* Ability to participate in a fast paced, creative, change-oriented and success-driven environment.
* Proven ability to speak in front of small and large groups.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Working knowledge of personal computer applications (
EXCEL,
WORD, email).
* Must have own car (mileage reimbursed for university activities).
* Must have web-enabled phone package (monthly stipend to offset service costs).
* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position - carrying informational materials, walking distances, extended time standing.

Preferred Requirements |
* Three years of transfer admissions experience
* Master's degree in appropriate field
* Bilingual (Spanish-English) abilities |
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule |
Monday through Friday, some evening and weekends required. |
Physical Requirements of Position |
Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer and using a telephone. Some travel is required using the employee's own vehicle. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. |
