Position Summary

Manage all operations of the Environmental Monitoring, Central Services and Quality Operations (QO) Media Prep sections including laboratory budget, facilities, personnel, procedures and testing to monitor and ensure the integrity of Zoetis' Biological and Pharmaceutical Products in compliance with global regulations and standards.

Hours: 1st Shift.

Position Responsibilities

Actively manage the resources of the Environmental Monitoring, Central Services and Quality Operations (QO) Media Prep sections to facilitate or perform the responsibilities outlined below.

  • Oversee resources and operations to ensure compliance with global quality standards for biological and pharmaceutical products.
  • Develop, manage, and improve environmental monitoring and water testing programs.
  • Analyze performance metrics, trends, and key indicators to optimize laboratory capacity and quality.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing to maintain and update environmental monitoring programs and risk assessments.
  • Ensure timely reporting and communication of environmental monitoring results and trends.
  • Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Train and mentor team members to ensure operational continuity.
  • Develop strategic plans aligned with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the change control process for procedures, equipment, and technology transfers, to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Provide oversight and approval of laboratory investigations and lead the authorship of large-scale deviation investigations.
  • Evaluate and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Media Preparation and Environmental Monitoring areas to drive continuous improvement and ensure operational efficiency.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. or equivalent in Biological Sciences or closely related field or 3-5 years of experience in microbiology laboratory or 5-7 years of experience in a biological manufacturing setting
  • Experience in environmental monitoring, aseptic manufacturing, or microbial laboratory operations.
  • Management or leadership experience required.
  • Exceptional Organizational, Communication (written and verbal) and Interpersonal skills.

Technical Skills and Competencies Required

Required:

  • Thorough understanding of the principles of Environmental Monitoring
  • EM Regulatory Requirements
  • Self-starter, able to prioritize work and work efficiently with supervision.
  • Complete calculations using basic math.
  • Understand metric system and basic statistics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to make logical decisions concerning assay results.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Understanding of procedure to perform environmental monitoring and use associated equipment.
  • Existing knowledge of USDA and EP requirements associated with Environmental Monitoring
  • Proven project and resource management experience.
  • Ability to present information to management.
  • Knowledge of EU Annex 1 and ISO regulations.

Physical Position Requirements

  • Manual dexterity using hands and fingers.
  • This job entails sitting or standing at a laboratory bench or desk.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision work.
  • Occasional need to sit, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, work weekend and overtime
