POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Afognak Native Corporation has an opportunity for an Administrative Assistant located at our corporate office in Kodiak, Alaska.The Administrative Assistant functions as the primary administrative support for the Kodiak Facility. In accordance with a services agreement in place between Afognak Native Corporation (Afognak) and Red Peak Technical Services, LLC (RPTS), this position with RPTS performs administrative duties, maintains the integrity of the office, and functions as a liaison between departments, students, staff, and visitors.



  • Greet guests at the reception area in professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls to appropriate departments/individuals in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain accurate lists of departments and employees to assist with directing phone calls in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Take and receive messages as needed or directed by staff.
  • Maintain corporate security visitors logs pursuant to corporate policy and as otherwise instructed.
  • Ensure coffee and water is always available for staff and guests during normal business hours.
  • Keep reception area clean and free of clutter, remove any outdated brochures and reading material from lobby.
  • Maintain corporate calendar and conference room schedules.
  • Ensure all checks and cash are deposited into the bank on a weekly basis in accordance with the Kodiak Deposit Procedures.
  • Keep conference rooms clean and presentable, inspecting them on a regular basis to prepare for all meetings.
  • Process and distribute both incoming and outgoing mail in a timely manner.
  • Maintain facility supplies for both the office break room and Shareholder Space Rental supplies, ensuring all are organized in a consistent manner.
  • Provide support to Event Coordinator as requested, including but not limited to; ironing table cloths, hosting events during regular business hours, being backup to host events outside of normal business hours, taking inventory of supplies for event center, answering booking questions, scheduling bookings, taking payments for bookings, coordinating audio visual checks.
  • Provide administrative support to all departments as requested, including but not limited to; shredding, typing correspondence, performing data entry, sending faxes, preparing and mailing packages, copying, filing, and making phone calls.
  • All other duties as assigned


Payrate:$17.85 to $26.77 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in all aspects of administrative support.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a professional and courteous manner and handle difficult situations.
  • Must adhere to the Corporation's confidentiality policy.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, Adobe Professional and the ability to exercise strength in internet research projects.
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
