Assistant Coach: Organizes and administers intercollegiate sport(s). May supervise a staff and/or have budgetary responsibility. May conduct practices, identify and recruit qualified student-athletes, develop competitive schedules, coordinate team travel, and insure compliance with governing rules and regulations.

Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach: Assists with the development and implementation of assigned sport program(s) strength and conditioning related activities and provides expert knowledge and instruction for a competitive intercollegiate athletics program in support of fielding a competitive team, fostering a positive student-athlete experience, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

These positions are designated Campus Security Authority and are obligated under the Clery Act to notify the Dispatch Supervisor/Records Custodian at the UW Oshkosh Police Department of alleged Clery Crimes that have been reported to them or alleged Clery Crimes that they have directly witnessed.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Assistant Coach

  • Organizing and operating of an effective sports program.

  • Recruiting effectively in guidelines set by the University, conference and the NCAA.

  • Planning and organizing off-season conditioning programs.

  • Promoting UW Oshkosh through clinics, camps, and speaking engagements.

  • Planning and organizing in-season practice sessions.

  • Counseling student-athletes and setting up short/long term goals.

  • Guide, direct, and support Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) initiatives and efforts.

  • Working with marketing team on game environment and community outreach initiatives.

  • Additional duties may be assigned based on unit needs.

Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

  • Assists in in the development and monitoring of individual and team weight training and conditioning programs

  • Enters and maintains computerized data and tracking of individual and team student-athlete workouts

  • Assists with the instruction and execution of conditioning simulations and exercises for a designated athletic team, provides information, and consults with student-athletes regarding weightlifting and conditioning techniques and safety

  • Serves as a point of contact and liaison to coaching staff, medical professionals, and student-athletes to monitor physical health, improve athletic abilities, and provide information and coaching

Required Qualifications:

Assistant Coach

  • Coaching experience in the sport you are applying for position.

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Current strength and conditioning certification from a nationally recognized program such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or National Council on Strength and Fitness Certified Strength Coach (CSC)

  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification and/or demonstrates experience to respond appropriately in the case of injury or other health-related issue
