Overview
The International Undergraduate Admissions Counselor (Program Coordinator I) plays an essential role in the Office of Global Engagement by facilitating the recruitment, admission, and academic success of international students at Utah State University. The successful candidate is expected to be a dynamic team member supporting International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Study Abroad, and International Programs in the Office of Global Engagement. Responsibilities include assisting prospective students, reviewing undergraduate student application materials, evaluating international credentials, and coordinating international transcript articulation.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently review and maintain undergraduate student applications in the application management system.
  • Manage applications from intake to department referral, which includes data entry, uploading supplemental items, and corresponding with department advisors/liaisons.
  • Accurately interpret and evaluate official international transcripts and calculate grade point averages.
  • Monitor/respond to emails from potential applicants, assisting them with the application process, application portal, and communication with their prospective academic department.
  • Process and verify test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, MET, Cambridge).
  • Coordinate articulation of international courses and credits, including communication with students, the Registrar's Office, academic departments, and academic advisors, and assigning appropriate transfer credit on student records.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Global Engagement team members regarding the admissions policies and procedures for international degree-seeking, non-degree-seeking, and exchange students.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other units and personnel such as the Office of Admissions, Registrar's Office, Student Orientation and Transition Services, Intensive English Language Institute, Athletics, academic advisors, and program coordinators.
  • Assist in tracking admission and enrollment trends.
  • Serve on scholarship, waiver, English language proficiency appeal, and other committees.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
  • Associate's degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent
    combination of education in a related field plus related work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience traveling overseas or living/working in different cultural settings.
  • Experience with database and records management.
  • Familiarity with international educational systems, grading scales, and curricula.
  • A broad knowledge of and experience with university admissions, credential evaluation, academic policies and procedures,
    articulating transfer credit, and student services.
  • Familiarity with application management systems (CRM Recruit, Salesforce, or similar).
  • Familiarity with data and file management systems (Banner, Box, ServiceNow, or similar).
  • Familiarity with regulations for F-1 students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including adeptness in relating easily, effectively and equitably with students from diverse
    cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • Competency in maintaining confidential information.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skilled at records maintenance.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of information gathering methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Program specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as described in recruitment notice.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be
    undefined.
