The industrial painter performs several activities, including washing, paint prep, mixing,spraying of industrial coatings on steel structures, piping and industrial components, maintenance and cleaning of spray equipment, and keeping QC and documentation records. Knowledge of basic rigging, overhead crane operation, and forklift operation necessary. The industrial painter job description involves selecting the appropriate tools necessary to execute a job. They utilize a variety of techniques and tools in painting surfaces, so they must make an accurate selection of spray equipment to achieve the desired paint thickness and finishes per manufacture and customer specifications. They may utilize equipment such as pressure pots, cup guns, airless sprayers, mixers, paint shakers, and thickness gages to verify the makeup of the paint and use their knowledge of the job to mix the paint to specifications. They are also responsible for prepping and masking surfaces that do not need painting.. * Assist with preparation of metal structures and equipment for blasting and painting processes (e.g., cleaning, sand blasting, masking) * Willingness to follow direction and take the initiative to paint systems and application processes. * Prior knowledge in pressure pot and cup gun painting.
