https://libraries.uark.edu/ Summary of Job Duties:The role of the Library Graduate Assistant for Business is an engaging job that gives you the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the educational experiences of students at the University of Arkansas while furthering your professional goals! The person in this role will fulfill a variety of job duties that will allow them to develop a diverse portfolio of skills and utilize creativity.
The Graduate Assistant will work closely with the Business and Entrepreneurship Librarian to support library instruction, research services, and the promotion of library resources relevant to the Sam M. Walton College of Business. This includes contributing to the development of an intentional, growing business information literacy instruction program. This individual may assist in delivering instruction sessions, which focus on helping students understand and apply information literacy concepts, including how to access and evaluate key business resources, tools, and services.

As a member of the University Libraries' Research and Instruction Services department, the Library Graduate Assistant for Business will also work closely and collaboratively with a dedicated team of colleagues in the library to provide excellent service to our patrons. They will receive the training necessary to answer research questions, help with special events, and participate in other opportunities that allow them to explore areas of personal interest that contribute to professional development. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to learn about instructional design, curriculum mapping, and business information literacy. Most importantly, they will be committed to creating meaningful connections with faculty and students in the Sam M. Walton College of Business.

Reliable, in-person attendance and the ability to adapt to a flexible schedule is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain professional, positive relationships as part of a team.
Anticipated appointment: August 11, 2025 (tentative start date) - August 7, 2026 (with possible renewal)

Stipend: $19,260 per year for a master's student or $23,100 for a doctoral student; plus, waiver of tuition (but not fees) Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in the Graduate School

  • Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate competency in spoken English by submitting one of the following: (1) A test score of at least 7 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) speaking subtest, at least 50 on the Test of Spoken English (TSE), at least 26 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) speaking subtest, at least 72 or "pass" on the University's Spoken Language Proficiency Test (SLPT), at least 71 on the speaking portion of the Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Academic, or 50 on the University's SPEAK test.(Although the SPEAK test is no longer offered, official results from it will still be accepted.) or (2) proof of concurrent enrollment in ELAC 2033 Principles of Research Writing and ELAC 0011 Writing Workshop: Grammar through Editing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education in and/or experience with business research or business information resources

  • Experience in using an academic library for research

  • Experience with marketing or promotion

  • Experience with instructional design, curriculum planning, or program development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • The ability to adapt to a flexible working schedule

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
