Job Details:
Mercer University is searching for a Director of Development for the James and Carolyn McAfee School of Theology on the Atlanta, Georgia campus.

Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to independently coordinate fundraising and alumni relations events and activities in an effort to foster a continuing relationship between the James and Carolyn McAfee School of Theology and its alumni and friends. The primary responsibilities of the job are to encourage alumni/friends to give to the School/University through their time, service and monetary gifts. Specifically, this position is responsible for insuring the respective School's annual fund goals are met each fiscal year, the campaign goals are met and the academic unit's major alumni events are planned and orchestrated successfully. Further, this position is responsible for assisting and facilitating communication between its alumni/friends and the School and between the academic programs and the University.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required along with two years of experience working with people in direct sales experience, business development experience and activities where relationship building is essential or other related business experiences. Candidates with a master's degree in Theology, Theological studies or MDIV are highly desirable.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier as this position requires travel.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others in order to build relationships.
  • Ability to plan and organize meetings and other events in order to successfully engage alumni and friends of the University.
  • Ability to write or edit proposals, letters and articles for the purpose of soliciting gifts and providing written information to constituents.
  • Basic knowledge of work processing and spreadsheet applications for analysis and preparation of reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends to facilitate cultivation of constituents.
  • Ability to multi-task in order to achieve goals in a timely manner.
