Painter- 2nd Shift

This is a second shift role. Second shift benefits include a $1 shift premium, a paid lunch, and additional vacation after one year.

Job Summary:

The Painter is responsible for mixing three-part paints and for paint spraying (HVLP) gun all parts and frame structures for the assembly floor. The position is also responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining the equipment, for ordering paints and supplies and for directing paint projects through the department.

Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Mix and prepare paint components to the proper ratios
  • Maintain and operate spray painting gun to paint parts and structures per department schedule.
  • Maintain and operate gun washer.
  • Maintain and operate recycling still. Keeps paperwork for still including paint usage.
  • Maintain all paint equipment to include cleaning and performing regular required maintenance
  • Keep inventory of paint and paint supplies and order inventory as necessary.
  • Provides input into new paint procedures and techniques.
  • Helps in training new employees to the department.
  • Prepare parts for painting including washing and taping, and loading

Job Requirements:



  • Requires education generally equivalent to a High School Diploma.
  • Preferred 1-3 years of relevant painting experience.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and calculate ratios.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.
  • Must be able to collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop solutions.



Primary Waste Handler



  • Ability to safely handle, store, label, and dispose of all hazardous waste streams. Able to keep accurate records of waste material handled. Able to conduct weekly inspections of all waste handling equipment to ensure safe operation of waste operations. Able to properly label and manage hazardous waste containers in the 90-day accumulation and satellite accumulation areas. Able to safely and properly load/unload incoming raw materials and waste materials. Notifies other plant authorities, as necessary, in emergency situations. Able to complete hazardous waste manifests.

  • The incumbent will utilize gloves, a Tyvek suit and an air-assisted hood, respirator, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection as needed while performing work assignments.

  • While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to talk and listen, and climb or balance. The incumbent will regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or touch, reach above shoulders and move from place to place. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • During the performance of their work duties, the incumbent will be occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds, will regularly lift up to 10 pounds.


Tools/Equipment Utilized:



  • During the performance of their duties, the employee will utilize a paint gun, various hand tools, a forklift, ladders, grinders, a crane, a gun washer, paint shaker and recycling still.

  • The employee works in a factory environment and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
