East Carolina University is a public doctoral/research university in Greenville, North Carolina, with an enrollment of nearly 27,000 students. It is one of the largest universities in North Carolina. ECU offers 84 bachelor's degree programs, 71 master's degree programs, 13 research doctoral degrees, 5 professional doctoral degrees, the Brody School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine.
The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 250 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The School is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
Job Duties
INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University.

The School of Music seeks a faculty member to serve as the Robert L. Jones Distinguished Professor or Distinguished Scholar. In addition to regular teaching obligations, the duties associated with this position will include public performances and/or presentations and the promotion of arts education and cultural events across the region. More specific duties associated with this position are negotiable and will be determined by the holder in consultation with the Director of the School of Music.
Minimum Education/Experience
Terminal degree in Music with the earned rank of Associate Professor or full Professor is required. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions. Only current full-time faculty members within East Carolina University are eligible.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Doctorate in Music preferred.

    • Budget: Yearly budget limited to $27,000 and must not exceed $81,000 for the 3 year term. This could include a stipend for you up to $5,000/year, travel, guest artist honoraria, graduate assistant(s), advertising, office/computer supplies, postage, etc. All expenses are subject to pre-approval by the administration.
