Job Summary

The Financial Analyst I provides support to financial planning & analysis, management reporting, financial systems, and other functions within the department that will assist management and others in making educated economic decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Continuously exhibit and uphold Core Values of Integrity, Accountability, Communication and Teamwork, Innovation and Customer Service


  • Assist in budgeting, reporting, analysis, forecasting and similar financial processes


  • Assist in processing and reconciling daily transactions between systems, prior periods and supporting documentation
  • Assist in maintaining and improving finance department operational processes and internal controls which verify the integrity of IT systems, financial record-keeping processes, and business performance data


  • Assist in planning and implementing finance related projects, including developing project plans to monitor and track progress, maintaining project portfolios, serving as the liaison between IT and Finance, and summarizing and/or presenting project status updates and timelines


  • Respond to management with accurate and timely reporting, both ad-hoc and on-going, to facilitate communication of the Company's financial performance
  • Coordinate and deliver internal and external customers' requests for information
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and communicate these with department management
  • Complete various projects as assigned by department management to improve functional operations



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Knowledge of GAAP, including account reconciliation, audit/control, and other accounting processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of information systems, including data warehouse, business intelligence / reporting platforms, and accounting ledger
  • Knowledge of Statutory Accounting, Reinsurance Accounting, and other aspects of insurance operations
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Proactive self-starter who works well independently and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective decision-making skills and an ability to perform under deadline pressure
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight travel



Experience and Education

Financial Analyst I



  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (accounting, finance, business administration) required
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS Finance) preferred


  • Minimum of three years' experience in corporate accounting or finance required
  • One year hands-on accounting or finance experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry preferred


  • CPA designation preferred
