Rework and Inspection Technician

The Rework and Inspection Technician performs high level inspection and rework of electronic components on to printed circuit boards per IPC-A-610 class 2 and 3 standards. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
Essential Functions

  1. Assembly Inspection per internal process documents and IPC standards.
  2. Ensure product meets internal and customer requirements.
  3. Rework in-process and returned assemblies following IPC-7711/IPC-7721 Rework Repair, customer and internal requirements.
  4. Adhere to the company's ISO Quality Management System.
  5. Operate AOI (X-ray) machine as required.
  6. Ensure work area is kept clean and free of debris.
  7. Adhere to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to working near moving mechanical parts and caustic fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, use fine hand motor skills/dexterity, use repetitive motions, and lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Travel
Little to no travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience


  1. High School diploma or equivalent (GED),
  2. Ability to perform complex surface mount component soldering on printed circuit boards to IPC standards.
  3. Knowledge of electronic components and equipment.
  4. Ability to perform complex thru-hole component soldering on printed circuit boards to IPC standards.
  5. Experience inspecting thru-hole and surface mount components on printed circuit board assemblies to IPC-A- 610 standards.
  6. SMT, AOI (X-ray), and post thru-hole and final inspection experience.
  7. Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  8. Basic knowledge of IPC-7711/IPC-7721 Rework Repair.



Preferred Education and Experience


  1. Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  2. Certification in IPC-7711/IPC-7721 Rework Repair.
