Georgia Tech Finance & Planning Development Program (finance.gatech.edu)

Georgia Tech's central finance unit, Finance & Planning (F&P), has launched a dynamic new program designed to equip individuals with the training and hands-on experience needed to begin a successful career in financial administration at Georgia Tech.

Participants will receive comprehensive training on Georgia Tech's financial systems and processes, followed by rotational assignments within both the central F&P office and distributed campus units. These rotations will offer valuable, hands-on experience and prepare participants for future opportunities within Georgia Tech's financial administration.

While specific responsibilities will vary by assignment, participants may engage in tasks such as:

  • Preparing financial reports and documentation
  • Analyzing and interpreting financial data
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align financial operations with Institutional goals

This position will report to the Director of Institute Finance and will work closely with the Institute Finance Support (IFS) team.

Job Summary

The Finance Professional is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, and performance analysis. This role involves preparing reports, analyzing financial data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align financial activities with the organization's goals. The Finance Professional provides insights that drive informed decision-making and improve financial outcomes.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive reports to inform strategic decision-making, identifying trends and variances that impact financial performance.

Job Duty 2 -
Collaborate with departmental leaders to develop budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and resource allocation.

Job Duty 3 -
Monitor financial performance and conduct variance analysis, providing actionable recommendations for improvement to enhance efficiency and profitability.

Job Duty 4 -
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices, conducting regular reviews of policies and procedures to maintain adherence.

Job Duty 5 -
Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures that promote transparency and accountability.

Job Duty 6 -
Provide guidance and support on financial matters to employees at all levels, enhancing financial literacy across the organization.

Job Duty 7 -
Lead or contribute to special financial projects and initiatives aimed at improving processes, systems, and reporting accuracy.

Job Duty 8 -
Maintain accurate and secure financial records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Associate's Degree in related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Two or more years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent.

Preferred Experience
One year of direct job experience.

Proposed Salary

Annual Salary:$41,551 to $70,000

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Application of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices; basic financial analysis and forecasting techniques; use of financial/accounting related software.

Preferred skills: Application of specialized skills within a university or government agency environment; ability to apply knowledge of regulations and reporting requirements specific to area of involvement.

This is a limited-term position and is subject to availability of funding thereafter. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon available funding, business needs, and your performance of the assignment. Georgia Tech retains the right to terminate this assignment at any time for cause or, in its sole discretion, for convenience; in either case, Georgia Tech's obligation shall be limited to payment for hours and/or days worked prior to the termination date.
