Provides moderate to complex functional and operational support for assigned claims department. Support can include, but is not limited to maintaining claim records, processing claim payments, preparing a variety of forms and materials, reviewing materials, correcting errors and assisting with assigned Claims systems tasks. Works with customers, attorneys, adjusters and others to help resolve issues. Provides support on various claims projects to address claims needs.
This role will be filled following our hybrid work model at our Davenport, IA office.
As a Claims Technician II on the Salvage team, you will:
- Provide support in creating and maintaining claim files which may involve, investigating policy information, completing claims delete and direct entry processes, compiling materials to respond to requests, following up on outstanding items, scheduling services, interpreting and releasing notices and file materials, and conducting audits.
- Research and prepares moderate to complex claim materials and completes various tasks necessary for claim processing. This may include preparing various forms, reviewing and processing complex bills, checks and invoices, completing uncashed check processes, processing titles, completing and processing media requests, completing complex research on unidentified claims correspondences, and conducting utilization reviews, etc.
- Perform a variety of functional duties which may include creating various reports, processing tax updates, proofreading and assembling procedure manuals, preparing and submitting state and federal reporting, correcting reporting errors, handling negotiations, coordinating distribution of incoming complaints, suits and demands, and participating in system upkeep.
- Develop and maintains knowledge of jurisdictional requirements and best practices within assigned department ensuring all tasks are completed effectively and in compliance.
In addition, you'll:
- Provide support on various ad hoc projects intended to address specific claims related needs. This may involve developing reports, preparing materials, serving on special task forces, maintaining project logs, providing system specifications and testing, etc.
- Provide clerical support to the claims staff in assigned location, which may include typing correspondence, providing telephone coverage for the 800 line, photocopying documents, ordering supplies, and performing related duties requiring similar skill and level of responsibility.
- May assist supervisor with administrative duties, including but not limited to giving daily work direction to other support staff, training new associates, maintaining process guides, reviewing work, preparing and submitting performance and volume reports, and preparing daily work schedule.
- Contact may include customer/accounts, claimants, medical providers, attorneys, salvage vendors, lenders, managed care vendors, and internal claims staff.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.
What it Takes:
Associate degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum 2 years of related work experience. Strong keyboard and filing skills, basic math skills, communication skills, and organizational abilities. Knowledge of claim processing and procedures. Ability to work within time deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and work with detail and accuracy. Knowledge of state fee scheduling, rules and regulations, and claim procedures beneficial. Ability to adapt to frequent changes in workflow and regulations.
