The F-35/F/A-18 Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide direct subject matter expertise and test support to NAVAIR Program Office, PMA-205's NAWDC Campus Integrated Project Team (IPT). Additional support will be provided to the Virtual Integrated Training Department which includes Sims at Sea, and the Fleet Integrated Training Centers.

This is a part-time position with travel required to support test events and working groups; locations will include Nas Patuxent River, MD, NAWCTSD Orlando, St Louis, MO, and other locations. Travel is expected to be up to, but not more than, two weeks per month.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing subject matter expertise and test support for F/A-18 and F-35 training systems.
  • Advising design/test teams on current 4th and 5th gen Navy fighter integration tactics.
  • Assisting in simulator testing prior to delivery to NAWDC.
  • Collaborating with TOPGUN and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with current standards.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. Navy carrier aviation capabilities and tactics.
  • Expertise in strike fighter tactics and training.
  • Former Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor (SFTI) strongly preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to two weeks per month.

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret (OR) Top Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
