Description

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Design-Compliance Manager to lead, coordinate, and execute complex architectural and engineering design initiatives within major capital programs in support of the Planning and Design Team. This role requires a balanced combination of technical expertise, team leadership, and client-facing communication, ensuring seamless delivery of multidisciplinary design solutions. Mastery of client design standards and coordination of design documents are integral to this position. The ideal candidate brings a proactive approach to collaboration, innovation, and performance in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Leadership & Execution: Lead design management across large-scale infrastructure or building programs. Coordinate internal and external (subconsultant and subcontractor) teams to meet programmatic goals, schedules, and budgets. Ensure design quality, compliance, and innovation across all project phases leading QAQC of deliverables. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, client design standards, standards specifications, project requirements, and regulations.

Project Planning & Technical Coordination: Assist in early planning efforts, including feasibility studies, architectural planning/layout, and space programming. Support the development of project scopes, schedules, budgets, and performance metrics. Provide oversight for technical deliverables, value engineering, and constructability reviews. Support Risk Mitigation Measures identified by project stakeholders documented in Risk Register. Provide construction management support to ensure subcontractors are adhering to client guidelines, standards, and installation requirements. Coordinate verifying and validate during construction that client requirements and expectations are being met.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor and design lead to clients, representing their interests across all phases of design. Participate in and lead design charrettes, presentations, and progress meetings. Foster strong, lasting relationships with agency, governmental, and industry partners.

Team & People Management: Mentor junior staff, interns, and emerging design professionals.

Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.

Strategic & Business Development Support: Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, market expansion, and proposal development. Identify and pursue design innovation opportunities and industry best practices. Contribute to thought leadership through participation in professional associations and conferences.

Qualifications

Required Skills:



  • Administrative Strength: Organized and detail-oriented, with proven skills in managing and maintaining schedules, deliverables, budgets and team collaborations.
  • Management: Manage multi-disciplinary teams, both internal and external (subconsultants). Demonstrate key understanding of program goals/objectives and communicate expectations for team delivery.
  • Tools: Demonstrated ability in all design tools, project information management software and a fast learner for new emerging technologies in design/construction space.
  • Change and Risk Management: Basic understanding of change and risk identification and prioritization to assure mitigation measures are implemented. Identify scope gaps, out of scope additional service requests.


Other:



  • Travel: Up to 20% travel on both International and Domestic efforts.
  • Mentoring: Ability to mentor interns, recent graduates internally. Offer mentoring/protege ability to external diverse organizations (WTS - GNY etc.)
  • Leadership: Demonstrate people, team, thought and design leadership as necessary.
  • Collaborative: Works well in a team environment - providing support to mentors, mutual respect with peers and team members and emerging leadership skills with teams.


Qualifications

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business or related discipline.


Experience:



  • Minimum 10-12 years experience (planning, engineering/architecture design or construction projects).
