Summary

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking an Applications Engineer II.

Description:

As an Application Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to deliver tailored software solutions for a diverse customer base across the manufacturing sector. This is a full-cycle engineering role encompassing requirements gathering, scope definition, coding, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with internal development teams and external partners, maintaining existing software plugins and automation tools, and ensuring high-quality, customized application development. Success in this role requires both strong software engineering skills and a solid understanding of CAD/CAM and manufacturing workflows.

Job Responsibilities

  • Providepre-sales and post-sales technical support for custom software projects.
  • Develop and maintain custom software solutions, including plugins and automation scripts, tailored to customer needs.
  • Define project scope and deliverables through close collaboration with customers and internal teams.
  • Test, debug, and implement reliable code for deployment in live manufacturing environments.
  • Maintain and enhance existing RADAN plugins and automation tools.
  • Work closely with the core software development team to align custom development with product roadmaps.
  • Produce clear technical documentation to support deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the manufacturing industry.
  • Travel up to 30% to customer sites or industry events, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent programming experience.
  • 1-3+ years of professional software development experience; recent graduates with strong coding skills are also welcome.
  • Strong proficiency in:

    • Reporting, SQL, databases, and networking
    • Programming: C#, C++, VB.NET, VBA
    • Frameworks/Tools: OOP, REST APIs, DevExpress, WPF, Visual Studio, Git, TFS


  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and pragmatic problem-solving abilities.
  • Dependable high-speed internet (required for remote/hybrid roles).
  • Prior experience or familiarity with CAD/CAM software is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes is a plus.



Preferred/Advantageous Skills:



  • Experience with RADAN, including RadBend and RadTube
  • Familiarity with major CAD platforms such as SOLIDWORKS, Solid Edge, Inventor, or Creo
  • Knowledge of NC and G-Code programming
  • Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication (laser, punch, tube cutting, forming)
  • Exposure to ERP, MRP, or MES systems
  • Experience with quoting and job costing systems
  • Spanish language skills are a plus
