Job Description

Ameritas Life Insurance Corp is looking for a AI Intern - Project Management to drive the business by collaborating with data scientists, product teams, IT and business stakeholders to advance Ameritas' AI initiatives.

The start date for this internship would be as soon as possible and would be a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home based in Lincoln, NE.

What you do:



  • Project Management:

    • Collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, product teams, IT, and business stakeholders to define project scope and prioritize features.
    • Define AI/ML best practices, optimize workflows, and drive innovation through research and development.
    • Play a key role in coordinating daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, ensuring consistent team communication and progress tracking.
    • Create and manage Azure (ADO) boards to track tasks, dependencies, and blockers for a multi-phase AI model development project.
    • Conduct stakeholder interviews and gather requirements to align AI model capabilities with end-user needs.
    • Document key project milestones, timelines and risks improving cross-team visibility and reporting.
    • Assisted in translating complex AI concepts into clear presentations for business leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Support testing and validation phases by coordinating between QA, AI, and product teams to meet release deadlines.


  • AI/Machine Learning:

    • Contribute to building AI solutions and system & user prompts, and knowledge collections.
    • Monitor production performance and manage model versioning.
    • Deploy and customize LLMs, design RAG systems, develop PoCs for emerging agentic solutions, and optimize inference costs.
    • Implement model monitoring, ensure fairness, document model lineage, and manage a model registry.
    • Enforce AI security measures, ensure data privacy compliance, monitor model vulnerabilities, and maintain audit trails.




What you bring:



  • Enrolled in a college or university program at least part-time for the duration of the internship studying computer science, data science, software engineering or related field.
  • Able to fulfill a long-term internship commitment working full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year.


    • FT includes 30-40 hours a week
    • PT includes 15-20 hours a week


  • Must be interested in learning about AI, project management, business analysis, and process improvement.
  • Consistently demonstrates initiative and a professional, self-directed approach to responsibilities and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills and has the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Keen analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
