Associate Quality Engineer (On-Site)

Chatsworth, California, United States

JOB SUMMARY: The Associate Quality Engineer will be responsible for compliance to AS9100 and quality requirements of NHBB's customers. This role will be driving projects for reduction of scrap and rework processes

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager



  • Direct support for AS9100 quality management system compliance, including internal audits, corrective action system and applicable projects.
  • Improve key quality metrics of scrap and rework by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities.
  • Drive the operation to reduce scrap and rework by leading continuous improvement projects
  • Determine most effective methods for inspection techniques.
  • Implement standardization of inspection techniques across manufacturing, assembly and supplier.
  • Supporting manufacturing on determining critical manufacturing factors that contribute to high quality of the product.
  • Provide guidance, support and training for corrective action activities in the manufacturing floor.
  • Statistical methods to control and evaluate process capabilities, such as SPC, machine capabilities and gauge R&R.
  • Provide a subject matter expertise while interacting internal, external customers by meeting regularly, responding requests, and resolving issues as they may rise.
  • Implement PPAP, process flows, FMEAs, control plans and capability assessment when appropriated.
  • Performs Quality audits to manufacturing processes and ensuring that all requirements are being followed.
  • Reviews contractual requirements for quality compliance, flow down requirements to all levels of the organization, and creation of customer compliance matrix.
  • Generates, reviews and process Quality non-conformances, conduct containment, obtains disposition, evaluate root causes and implement corrective action as required.
  • Mentoring team members on quality practices.
  • Generate and deliver technical presentations.
  • Drive actions to reduce scrap reduction in the company.
  • Drive actions to manage supplier processes in the company.


JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Advanced knowledge of Quality, manufacturing engineering processes and regulatory requirements. =
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment.
  • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Experience/familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 quality standards
  • Experience/familiarity with chemical and heat treatment NADCAP compliance (preferred)
  • Familiarity in aerospace manufacturing processes and requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Familiarity with and understanding of aerospace bearing materials and machining processes
  • Knowledge in Inspection and test methodologies
  • Proficient at blueprint reading, engineering drawing interpretation and tolerancing
  • Highly self-motivated with demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly self motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize and produce results in a fast paced manufacturing environment



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • 4 year degree in engineering
  • 1-2 years of related experience in manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace.
  • ASQ certified quality engineer is preferred
  • Six sigma green or black belt certified is preferred
  • AS13100 training is preferred



OTHER REQUIREMENTS:



  • Possess a sense of urgency
  • Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization


PAY RANGE: $63,246 to $105, 410 Annually DOE

Note: Physical job requirements may include standing, use of hands to assemble and or carry out job functions as well as sitting, lifting, carrying, bending and stooping during the course of the job.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
