Dietetic Assistant

Description

As a Dietetic Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting patient nutrition within UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital (NPH). Under the supervision of the NPH Director of Nutrition, you will assist with meal planning, food ordering, and administrative tasks while providing timely, friendly service to patients and clinical teams within the behavioral health units and adolescent eating disorder treatment program.

In this role, you will:

  • Enter menus into nutrition software based on physician-prescribed diets
  • Enter menus into nutrition software accurately based on appropriate portions for eating disorder meal plans
  • Assist adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients with menu completion, when indicated
  • Answer patient questions and ensure meal accuracy using diet orders and reports
  • Collaborate and communicate with food services and clinical nutrition staff to resolve concerns

Your responsibilities may vary slightly depending on site-specific operations and patient needs. This position is essential to delivering safe, personalized nutrition and a positive experience to every patient.

Salary Range: $25.11-33.17/hr

Qualifications

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex information in a friendly, approachable way.



  • Prior customer service or call center experience preferred.



  • Comfortable handling a high volume of calls while maintaining accuracy and a positive attitude.



  • Interest or background in nutrition, health, or wellness preferred.



  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical, effective solutions.



  • Proficient in basic math, including measurements, weights, and recipe conversions.



  • Able to gather, interpret, and analyze data to support decision-making.



  • Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.



  • Patient, empathetic, and calm when managing challenging customer interactions.



  • Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs and pushing loads up to 100 lbs.



  • Proficient with common computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, CRM systems).



  • Must adhere to dress code standards and maintain professional appearance and hygiene.



  • Comfortable working in a non-smoking environment.



  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing workload demands.



  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate respectfully with team members and leadership.



  • Bachelor's degree or DTR (Dietetic Technician, Registered) preferred.
