This role is part of Alcon's Quality & Regulatory Affairs function, a team that ensures our products are in compliance with global, local, and internal regulations and meet the strictest standards of quality as we help people see brilliantly.

The Manager, Quality Control Lab - Microbiology is primarily responsible for leading Quality Control Microbiology lab testing to support product validation and release, ensuring safety, compliance, and team growth.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Manage microbiological testing and operations within the Quality Control Lab, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Oversee lab testing services, monitor results, and ensure adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGxP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and aseptic practices.
  • Collaborate with affiliated departments to support product release and maintain operations within safety, quality, and cost standards.
  • Make operational decisions affecting lab operations, requiring leadership, problem-solving, and strong communication skills.
  • Coordinate daily lab activities, ensuring timely completion of testing and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Ensure all associates adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GxP) regulations by strictly following SOPs, maintaining accurate and complete documentation, and completing all required training.
  • Encourage associates to meet individual job requirements and contribute to the overall compliance of the organization.
  • Commit to continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing team culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee and assist in the career development of direct reports.
  • Identify ongoing quality issues, prevent potential issues, and make suggestions for improvement.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+1 yr)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 3 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
  • Location: Onsite
  • Travel Requirements: 0-10%
  • Relocation and Sponsorship assistance: No
