DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician will perform a full range of duties in the Infusion Outpatient pharmacy setting. Assist the pharmacists in the preparation of medications (including antineoplastic/chemotherapy) for patient use for IV sterile compounding preparation and administration in accordance to established procedures under USP/USP; assist in the distribution of medications via Pyxis MedStations; maintains skills applicable to all information systems within the pharmacy, recordkeeping and billing functions; maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned. Will assist pharmacist in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience required.

  • Experience in project management/system responsibility (e.g. Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst); OR is a Pharmacy School graduate; OR expanded responsibilities over several areas OR possess a Pharmacy Intern License.

  • Knowledge of Pharmacy terminology and calculations.

  • Proven computer experience and accurate data entry skills.

  • Detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.

  • Have both excellent communication and customer service skills with ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two - Five (2-5) years of previous IV and Chemo experience.
  • Sterile Compounding Experience and familiarity with USP chapter 797 and USP chapter 800.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,519 - $80,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.90 - $38.41

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
