Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a community or university wide food pantry
  • Previous experience working with SNAP benefits and/or other federal agencies dedicated to increasing access to food
  • Experience planning or assisting with events
  • Experience in management of electronic databases

Position Summary
The Community of Care Coordinator for Basic Needs supports student well-being by overseeing the coordination of basic needs resources including the Student Food Pantry and Fresh Express. This role ensures efficient operations, manages inventory, and leads outreach efforts to promote access to essential resources. The role also assists with the coordination of the Embark@UGA program, an initiative that supports students who have experienced foster care and/or homelessness or who are at risk for homelessness. This role will report to the Director of Student Care and Outreach.

Basic Needs Resource Oversight

  • Oversee the daily operations of basic needs resources, including the Student Food Pantry and Fresh Express.
  • Manage inventory, procurement, and distribution of food and other essential supplies.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Student Care and Outreach, develop and execute strategies to address food insecurity and enhance access to essential resources for students.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Supervise volunteers or student staff supporting the Student Food Pantry and Fresh Express.
  • Develop new and enhance existing funding models to support the UGA Student Food Pantry and Basic Needs.

Campus Outreach and Partnerships

  • Coordinate and implement outreach and promotional efforts to raise awareness of available basic needs services.
  • Foster and maintain partnerships with campus departments, student organizations, and community agencies to expand basic needs support.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives as they relate to the implementation of a wider network of basic needs resources across campus and the community.
  • Support holistic student success through collaboration with university services and external partners.
  • Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in basic needs support and food security in higher education.
  • Represent Student Care & Outreach at appropriate meetings and campus activities, as needed.

  • Assist with the implementation of programming and general support for Embark@UGA
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration across campus to support students connected to Embark@UGA
  • Leverage statewide EMBARK network to improve access to basic needs resources for Embark@UGA students.
  • Coordinate with K-12 school counselors across the state to increase awareness about Embark@UGA for prospective students.
  • Engage in fundraising efforts to promote and enhance the Embark@UGA program.
