As a Non-Union Relief Driver, you'll operate a garbage truck on assigned routes to safely collect and transport solid waste while performing physically demanding work and delivering excellent customer service. Pay & Schedule Starting Pay Range: $38.00 - $39.15 per hour (based on experience) Schedule: Monday to Friday, starting at 5:00 AM and continuing until route completion. Averaging approximately 45 hours per week, with occasional overtime and Saturday shifts as needed. Key Responsibilities Operate a garbage truck on local routes to collect solid waste Follow route sheets and dispatcher instructions to service customers Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, checking fluids, tires, and safety equipment Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse Perform physically demanding work, including loading/unloading waste without assistance Interact courteously with customers and perform other related duties as assigned Working Conditions & Physical Effort Requires extensive physical activity, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including frequent wet/humid conditions, fumes, and vibration Work environment includes moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels Must follow all safety protocols and procedures Minimum Job Requirements Valid Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement At least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English High school diploma or equivalent preferred Basic knowledge of truck components for conducting pre- and post-trip inspections Safety-Sensitive Role This is a safety-sensitive position.
