About the role

Position Description:

While working under direction of the Shift Supervisor, the Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis. The Control Room Operator will respond to alarms, by taking appropriate corrective actions, and execute plant shutdown and start-up procedures, to assure the plant meets its operational, environmental, and safety commitments, while operating in safe and environmentally efficient manner. At times, the Control Room Operator willlead and directotheremployeeson their shift to address various plant conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Controltheoperation of systems, including steam generation, condensate, feed water, turbine/generator, circulating water, service water, fuel handling, ash handling, electrical, fire protection, air pollution control, and various computer networks.
  • Read and interpret meters, gauges, recorders, and annunciators to determine system operating conditions; take action within prescribed normal and emergency operating procedures.
  • Adjust and monitor temperatures, pressures, flows,and levels on station primary system components, for plant optimization.
  • Initiate and conduct periodic surveillance,tests,andoperating safety checkson equipment.
  • Maintain required logs and calculations; observe these logs for indications of faulty operation; and notifysupervisor of abnormal system conditions.
  • Monitor operation of systems and components including pumps, motors, valves, fans, dampers, grates, augers, conveyors, dust collections, etc.
  • Inspect operability of fire protection systems, emergency backup equipment, and electrical supply equipment and instrumentation associated with station systems and components.
  • Examine air pollution control equipment.
  • Accurately read and record data, and reporting equipment malfunctions or trends, which indicate possible equipment danger.
  • Identify and correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations.
  • Understand and train junior operators on the operating principles of the power facility's systems, components, and steam cycles.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' power plant or relevant experience, in an operating or generating plant with high-pressure boilers and electric generating equipment, or formal technical training. Previous experience as a Control Rom Operator is desired.
  • Basic computer, oral and written communication skills, and problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, and the ability to stay alert while sitting for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and understand schematic specifications and vendor technical manuals.
  • Obtain the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) QRO Provisional Certification within the first year of holding the position.
  • Be able to work on a rotating shift schedule and work overtime as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Available to work overtime hours during planned and unplanned maintenance outages.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions.

Shift:

  • Rotating Night and Day shifts. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a non-routine basis, if needed, to support facility operations.

What Reworld Offers You:
The expected base rate for this role is $38.68 - $48.39 per hour. This is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
