We are seeking a Technical Software Development Manager to lead and mentor a team of software developers in the design, development, and delivery of innovative digital solutions that align with Comfort Medical and Coloplast's strategic business goals. This hands-on leadership role requires a strong technical background, as you will actively contribute to the codebase while guiding architectural decisions and ensuring technical excellence across the team. In this role, you will support and delegate to the team, while functioning as an individual contributor. You will oversee the product development lifecycle, manage the product backlog, and drive agile best practices to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant software solutions. As a key member of the operational excellence leadership team, you will also play a critical role in aligning technical roadmaps with business goals, identifying technical risks, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and high-quality solution delivery.

This is a hybrid position based in Minneapolis, MN

Major Areas of Accountability



  • Lead and mentor a team of software developers, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives, and support career development for team members according to Comfort Medical policies and procedures.
  • Lead day-to-day development, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives by utilizing the Agile framework.
  • Guide and collaborate with the team in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Debug and troubleshoot software defects, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate fixes.
  • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, DevOps processes, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Document software design, architecture, and functionality to facilitate future maintenance and enhancements.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to improve overall code quality.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and architecture to maintain code quality and system scalability in line with Coloplast and Comfort Medical policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to evaluate the current software infrastructure and identify areas for enhancement or modernization.
  • Own and manage the product backlog, adjust priorities as necessary, and provide ongoing updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with Operational Excellence leaders to define, prioritize, and maintain the Operational Excellence roadmap, while effectively balancing new feature development with addressing technical debt and system enhancements.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and security standards relevant to the healthcare and DME industries.
  • Partner with IT and global stakeholders to ensure software solutions are robust, reliable, and easy to maintain.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies, and apply them to improve software development practices.
  • Assure all processes, SOPs, and tools are in compliance with our HIPAA privacy standards, all state and local laws, our Accrediting agency, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid, Third-Party and private payor guidelines.

Essential Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, information systems, business, computer science or related field
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience designing cloud-native solutions.
  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining microservices and RESTful APIs in production environments.
  • 2+ years of experience leading software engineering teams in an agile framework like Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or DevOps.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight - up to 20%



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to decompose monolithic systems into distributed architectures.
  • Strong experience with .NET Core, C#, Azure services, SQL databases, and front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, Angular).
  • Working knowledge of Azure-specific services like App Services, Azure Functions, Key Vault, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with database design and querying.
  • Proficiency in front-end frameworks and mobile app development (iOS/Android) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of modern software design principles (e.g., SOLID, DDD, TDD, clean architecture).
  • Comfortable working with diverse teams and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment under tight deadlines
  • Ability to solve ambiguous problems across the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to clearly communicate and advocate for the software development team's needs
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills required along with strong written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to changing priorities and requirements
