Foley & Lardner LLP's Houston office is seeking an Office Operations Manager. This is a leadership position responsible for the management of business functions and the overall day-to-day operations of our Houston and Austin office locations. The position has direct responsibility for budget preparation, financial management, business professional supervision, facilities management, policy and procedure administration, and provides operational and strategic support to the Office Managing Partner (OMP).
Responsibilities
Cultivate and maintain a productive office/work environment, and evaluate and allocate resources as needed
- Responsible for general management, problem solving, and dispute resolution; proactively addresses any and all issues raised on a day-to-day basis by attorneys, paraprofessionals, and business professionals
- Effectively manage local office business professional performance including annual performance review and merit process; provide ongoing guidance, coaching and counseling to ensure performance meets role expectations
- Coordinate with Human Resources as necessary to effectively and proactively address personnel concerns and issues
- Work in tandem with the Department Operating Officers and Director of Regional Administration & Operations (DAO) to oversee the incoming and departing attorney processes to include on-boarding, integration, and file transfers upon departure
- Attend partner meetings and facilitate communication of office/firm issues or initiatives
- In coordination with DAO, develop, update, and monitor office budgets, which includes budget variance analysis, expense control activities, and business professional overtime
- Manage local business professional staffing levels in accordance with firm standards
- Oversee incoming and departing business professional processes to include on-boarding and office integration
- Responsible for managing the Life Safety Plan and Emergency Response Team (ERT) for the office
- Responsible for building/premise management to include space allocation, office maintenance and repairs, and participate in office renovations/remodeling in coordination with national facilities department
- Participate in national initiatives as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Ability to travel to Austin office required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of related business management, office administration, and/or human resources experience with direct supervision of staff required
- Must have a strong understanding of accounting/financial principles
- Previous law firm or professional service experience is required
- Effective problem solving with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making; discretion and respect for confidentiality
- Outstanding comprehension, communication, and interpersonal skills to communicate courteously and effectively with attorneys, professional staff, clients and vendors
- Strong follow up and follow through ability to gather information and meet deadlines
- Strong computer software skills and organizational/time management/prioritizing skills to master daily tasks and other responsibilities #LI-Onsite
In support of transparency and equity in the workplace, Foley provides salary ranges for all positions. The figures below represent the full compensation range of this position. The actual offered amount will be between the range minimum and midpoint based on the following factors: education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley. Houston - $124,900 to $187,300
