Location: West Valley Hospital, 525 SE Washington Street, Dallas, Oregon 97338Department: Emergency Department Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week, ExemptSchedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, alternating on-call weeks, 24/7 accountability, some nights/weekends Your role with usWest Valley Hospital is a level four trauma center and one of only 25 Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) in the State of Oregon. As Emergency Department nurse manager, you will lead a small yet mighty team of professionals delivering high-quality care at the only 24-hour emergency department in Polk County. The Dallas community offers a smaller working environment with a community-like feel, where you will know the names of each of your teammates and develop strong bonds centered on delivering exceptional patient experiences. You will report to the Nursing Emergency Division Director, with your peer managers leading the Salem Hospital Emergency Department, Psychiatric Services, Salem Health's Trauma Program, and the Engagement & Resiliency Program. As an integral member of both the West Valley and Salem Health management teams, you will be in a unique position to promote and participate in collaboration across the health system while developing your clinical skills and honing your leadership acumen. This position oversees a team of nearly 30, including an assistant nurse manager, registered nurses, emergency technicians and acute care technicians. The team has an excellent retention rate and is highly involved in problem solving, featuring a robust unit council that engages throughout West Valley and Salem Health. Manage staff, technology, and physical resources effectively, acting as a strong financial steward of the organization while maintaining the highest levels of patient care. Interface with community partners such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through the Emergency Operations Council, and serve on various task forces, committees, and community teams. Required qualificationsBachelor's degree in nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS). Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon, or eligibility for licensure.Minimum of three years of experience as an RN in an acute care setting. Minimum of two years of progressive management and/or leadership experience. Additional informationAmerican Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Nurse Manager & Leader Certification or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Nurse Executive Certification will be required within two years of hire and must be kept valid throughout employment. The strongest candidates will demonstrate the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate project plans. Knowledge of, and ability to apply, age-specific principles of growth and development across life stages highly preferred.
