The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor who oversees all aspects of the Maintenance Department's daily operations and directly supervises the Maintenance Technicians. He/she is responsible for maintaining the various production and facility systems and process/packaging equipment. The Maintenance Supervisor monitors and directs departmental controllable spending, obtains quotes for projects and manages projects to timely completion/within budget. He/she also promotes safety awareness and stresses daily.

What we're looking for

  • Education: High school diploma required
  • Four-year technical degree preferred eg. Mechanical/ Chemical/ Electrical Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • RCRA training is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in maintenance in a production/distribution/manufacturing environment required.
  • Supervisory experience in a union environment is preferred.
  • Experience with the cGMP's and associated validation efforts preferred PSM experience preferred.
  • CMMS (Electronic Workorder System) experience preferred.
  • Certifications: Technical or Project Management certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and collaborates productively as a team member
  • Demonstrates a strong drive for results.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Ability to interface effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects toward timely completion
  • Knowledge and experience with technology and computers, including the Microsoft Office suite, is required
  • Able to apply logical thinking to diagnose issues/problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to solve to root cause(s) Able to demonstrate initiative and ability to perform as part of a team
  • Knowledge of process and facility maintenance techniques

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Leads Maintenance team through use of engineering principles
  • Directs spending and meets budgetary requirements are required
  • Establishes safe methods for maintenance work and trains Mechanics on a regular basis
  • Reviews line drawings and P&IDs to ensure compliance to standards and need
  • Oversees the maintenance tracking system and ensures that preventive maintenance procedures are effective
  • Ensures maintenance and project activities are compliant with all regulatory and corporate requirements (cGMP's, ISO, ANSI, UL, NEC, NFPA, PSM, etc.) Supports operational excellence activities to support improvements in safety, cost, capacity and throughputs; actively supports 5S efforts for site
  • Interfaces with Engineers to manage large capital projects
  • Develops direct reports to support corporate directives toward establishing high potential bench
  • Utilizes knowledge/experience in electrical, HVAC, boilers, PLC's, engineering drawings, machine shop equipment and fabrication on a regular basis Maintains equipment, with an emphasis on production equipment and systems, however, should have good familiarity on plant utility systems and ensuring efficiency of use
  • Manages hazardous and universal waste according to local, state and federal regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned with or without accommodation
  • Each employee is responsible to manage their departments and perform their defined tasks to comply with and maintain the sites' ISO 9000/1400 certification and all safety and regulatory requirements and is expected to shut down the operation and notify management if questions regarding compliance or other issues requiring additional attention arise. Regulatory requirements include, but are not limited to cGMP's, EPA, OSHA, DEA, DOT, and any other applicable local, governmental and company guidelines.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$77,300.00 - $128,700.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
