JOB ANNOUNCEMENT EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY OFFICER Department of Human Resources Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies are possible pending budget approval) Annual Starting Salary Range: $118,128--$133,524 Applications for this position will be accepted beginning 6-5-25 until 11:59pm CDT on 6-12-25. Under direction, oversees the administration and implementation of the City's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Violence in the Workplace (VIW) Policies, and performs related duties as required. The EEO Officer manages all tasks related to investigations of employee complaints of harassment, discrimination and retaliation, from intake of complaints through the investigative process and submission of final reports. A significant portion of the EEO Officer's role is dedicated to directing and assisting EEO Investigators and other EEO Division staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Directs EEO Investigators responsible for conducting inquiries and investigations regarding complaints, concerns, and potential violations of the City's EEO and Violence in the Workplace policies * Conducts status meetings with Investigators to assist them with prioritizing and moving forward on their caseloads * Reviews Investigators' investigation plans, and investigation reports and provide feedback * Manages other EEO Division staff members responsible for complaint intake and other procedures * Maintains and updates case information in the division's case management system * Responds to frequent requests from department leaders and liaisons seeking assistance with workplace interactions * Oversees the case intake and initial assessment process, ensuring that complaints and concerns are received and addressed in a timely fashion * Works closely with other departments to manage cases and serves as primary contact with the Department of Law for cases that have shifted to external venues such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission * Stays abreast of federal, state and local laws, as well as court cases and trends regarding discrimination, harassment, and fair employment practices * Researches relevant policies, rules and laws that apply to cases under investigation * Participates in the development and delivery of training programs regarding discrimination, harassment and retaliation, and violence in the workplace * Conducts inquiries and investigations of sexual harassment, equal employment opportunity and violence in the workplace complaints, as required Additional duties may be required for this position

Graduation from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school, plus five (5) years of investigative experience related to Employee Relations and/or workplace issues investigations, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role or case management capacity related to the responsibilities of the position. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires an applicant to successfully complete an interview which will include a writing exercise. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
