POSITION SUMMARY:

Professional Radiology Assistant (PRA) to provide administrative/ancillary support to improve Radiologist productivity as part of the Radiology Concierge Service. Primary support functions include serving as a central point of contact on inbound calls for Radiologists, referring physicians, and technologists, connecting Radiologists with referring physicians, relaying urgent and non-urgent medical results to referring physicians, and facilitating exam reading readiness for timely and efficient exam dictation by the radiologist.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Triage, manage and direct incoming calls from referring physicians, technologists, and Radiologists within a call center environment
  • Monitor system communication worklists and instant messaging requests - initiate appropriate action based on client guidelines to meet designated turnaround expectations
  • Connect Radiologists with referring physicians to facilitate timely communication of exam results
  • Call referring physicians on behalf of the Radiologists to ensure results are provided to the appropriate health care professional assisting in timely patient care. This includes faxing of exam reports upon request
  • Reply to Radiologist requests for further exam preparation by facilitating exam readiness
  • Document all communication and action took on individual exams
  • Continually maintain a high level of customer service
  • Adjust work hours and/or workdays to assure appropriate coverage to meet client needs
  • Assist the Radiologist during downtime situations based on client needs
  • Promote a culture that reflects the organization's values, encourages good performance, and enhances productivity
  • Perform other duties as assigned by displaying team spirit and self-growth, accepting projects and assignments

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:


  • Required Education:
    High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Preferred Education:
    Associate degree or completion of post-secondary coursework in a healthcare-related field (e.g., medical administration, health sciences, radiologic technology).

EXPERIENCE:


  • Coursework or certification in medical terminology
  • Experience or training in a healthcare, radiology, or call center environment
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and radiology information systems (RIS)
