The Job

Supports the Research & Analysis Team and Health Care Informatics department by: (1) conducting research with internal and/or external data to better understand factors associated with health care behavior and quality outcomes; (2) designing studies and performing advanced analyses to make recommendations for the organization's decision making; (3) developing predictive models to help risk stratification for interventions and case management; (4) designing and building reports for proper operation/outcome tracking; and, (5) supervising assigned staff and monitoring their work progress.

You Will



  • Design studies and/or perform advanced analyses with appropriate statistical methodology on a wide array of internal and external data and interpret results. This includes but not limited to validating the data, tracking process, identifying trends, evaluating the program, and making conclusions.
  • Design and develop reports at different platforms, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Access, SAS, and BI tools such as Tableau.
  • Conduct investigative research to uncover root causes, interpret results, identify trends, and make recommendations.

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging big data to drive business solutions.


  • Support customer needs for "what-if" scenario analysis by developing analytical tools/models.
  • Develop predictive models to support the risk stratification needs of the organization.
  • Manage multiple complex projects concurrently and complete them accurately within a limited timeline, by effectively prioritizing work and communicating workload issues to management.
  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations of the Informatics Analysts by planning and assigning work, monitoring progress, and providing guidance. Review the work of Informatics Analysts to ensure accuracy, quality and timely delivery to clients.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching and counseling employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Actively support the achievement of SCAN's Vision and Goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Your Qualifications



  • Preferred: Master's Degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, or related field, with emphasis on quantitative analysis
  • 6+ years performing data analysis and interpretation, preferably in a health care or managed care setting.
  • 4+ years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare data, including but not limited to membership eligibility, encounters, pharmacy, provider, and financial data.
  • Understanding of CMS Star Rating methodology, HEDIS, and HCC risk adjustment methodology preferred.
  • Experience with predictive modeling and machine learning, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and assign/monitor work within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with, and present findings to customers at all levels of the organization including operational managers, medical directors and executives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills; Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, required.
