MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

1st Shift

The Maintenance Supervisor administrates the maintenance department activities and systems, with the goal of maximizing machine uptime, output, and safety, The Maintenance Supervisor also ensures proper functioning of facilities and equipment, facilitating repairs or preventive actions as required.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Oversite of the CMMS and assign work to maintenance mechanics as required.
  • Provide technical direction to the Maintenance Mechanics, including troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to train maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinate work by outside contractors involved in specific projects, repairs, or Preventive Maintenance programs.
  • Specify parts for repair and monitor inventory of spare parts. Requests Purchase Orders based on need to stock and/or immediate requirements.
  • Work with other departments on improving operations efficiency, safety, and housekeeping, including support of capital projects.
  • Assist in selection and installation of new equipment and machinery.
  • Work with State and City inspectors on building related items and inspections.
  • Responsible for adherence to safety rules by direct reports, including promoting safe work practices, coaching and safety training. Also is responsible for stopping and reporting any safety violations when observed throughout the facility.
  • Write and manage capital projects as needed.
  • Participate in and maintain the maintenance budget.
  • Interview, hire and terminate employees, as necessary.
  • Conduct performance reviews on a semi-annual basis.
  • Participate in quality system audits for compliance with ISO and quality standards.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred education level: High school diploma or equivalent with a post high school technical degree in a maintenance related field.
  • Preferred experience level: At least five years' experience in the manufacturing/chemical industry.
  • Strong math skills and the ability to convert various measurements are required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and ERP and ability to learn others needed for maintenance

  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
