As a Systems Administrator II, you'll also play a role in implementing new solutions or system administration processes-either independently or alongside our Senior System Administrators and IT Solutions Architects. Additional Information: The pay range for this position is $68,000- $85,000+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • User creation and termination processes: Ensure onboarding and offboarding process is being completed timely and accurately. Responsible for creating, modifying, and terminating user accounts in active directory, email systems, and other to maintain security and compliance.
  • Administer user access and permissions: Oversee the management of user accounts, group policies, and permissions within active directory or other directory services to ensure secure access.
  • Identify and optimize workflows: Recognize new processes or systems that provide enterprise level scalability or aim to streamline, reduce errors, improve consistency and efficiency. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, such as account creation, permissions assignments, software deployment and updates, using tools like PowerShell, scripting, or automation platforms. Drive optimization of workflows that align with industry standard or best practices and document internal operating procedures and knowledge articles.
  • Patch Management: Responsible for the oversight of the patching management system, process and application of patches (including identifying opportunities to optimize). Apply patches and updates to operating systems, applications, and firmware to keep systems up-to-date and secure routinely after business hours. Create and apply installation configurations or pushes to newly purchased or existing applications needing upgrades.
  • Providing Solutions: Respond to new requests from internal delivery teams to implement or integrate software, technology or solutions. Participate in the contract process, evaluation of systems, or solutions to meet business needs or suggest alternative systems, new approaches, or technology to solve business issues. Drive the planning process, creating requirements if needed, budget estimates, then test and implement software, frameworks or solutions.
  • System Administration: Manage enterprise systems or technologies such as SSO, Webex, MS teams, set up and maintain VM's, View environment, GPO, Microsoft and other system licensing, MS Exchange and other M365 administration and migrations, Cloud platform(s), and ensure the implementation of IT security measures and compliance standards to safeguard sensitive data and cyber threats.
  • Maintenance and Support:
    • Oversee and monitor the backup process and activities are being completed for critical and key business systems and identifies enhancement of server needs. Contribute to disaster recovery plan and business continuity strategies to mitigate potential risks.
    • Oversee system reliability and performance through proactively managing system monitoring and maintenance activities, identifying technical dept activities or deprecation of servers or technologies.
    • Oversee that customer requests or issues within the delivery lane are resolved or escalated within agreed to service level agreements.
    • Responds to escalated or tier 2 support issues or server needs on call or after business hours.
    • Second level of escalation with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, diagnose root causes, and provide technical support when needed. Interacts with end-users to obtain clarification of problems and provide resolution for application and system failures or degradations. May require on call or after-hours support to identify root cause, provide technical assistance, solutions or escalate on to next level.
    • Proactively and effectively communicate changes within the IT infrastructure to all effected parties. Follow and document strict testing and deployment methodologies for IT Operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: A 2- or 4-year degree in Information Systems, System and Network security or a closely related field; and a minimum of 2 years of systems related experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience handling and communicating troubleshooting requests from customers.

Travel Requirements: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected up to 10% of the time.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure documents or knowledge articles. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to gather data and make recommendations based on analysis of that data.

Other Skills AND Abilities: This position requires good organizational skills, proactive communication, critical thinking attention to detail, self directing, and the ability to prioritize work and deal with stress. Must be able to research problems and recommend solutions written or orally. Must possess the ability to partner and work cooperatively with others to ensure the best outcome for our customers. Must be able to maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality of important situation or issues. Must be capable of handling the work schedule and attendance policies required at Interstates.
