Position Summary

As Senior Manager of Software Quality Assurance at Light & Wonder, you will lead a team of SQA Engineers to deliver high-quality gaming platform releases on schedule. This role involves team hiring and mentoring, promoting cross-functional collaboration, and the development and execution of robust test strategies. You will play a key role in upholding quality standards and aligning practices with departmental and organizational goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee the SQA roadmap, projects, and team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality platform releases within budget

  • Lead test planning and execution, including the development and implementation of comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts

  • Actively manage the defect management lifecycle driving effective defect tracking and timely resolution

  • Develop and drive comprehensive quality initiatives aligned with the organization's business objectives

  • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing QA teams, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement

  • Collaborate closely with product owners, development teams, and other stakeholders to ensure quality standards and project expectations are met

  • Mentor team members to identify, assess, and mitigate quality risks throughout the product development lifecycle

  • Drive continuous improvement in QA processes and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness

  • Monitor and analyze key quality metrics to assess team performance and identify areas for improvement

  • Advocate and champion the adoption of automation tools and frameworks to optimize testing efforts

  • Stay up to date with the latest QA technologies and trends and explore opportunities for innovation

  • Provide technical guidance and support to the QA team to address complex technical challenges

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent. Master's degree in computer science or equivalent preferred

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience leading SQA teams in a Supervisory or Managerial capacity

Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading multiple projects concurrently with positive outcomes

  • Experience and/or understanding of object-oriented programming languages (C++, C# or equivalent) and scripting languages (Python, PHP or equivalent)

  • Background in large embedded systems

  • Fundamental knowledge of Unity or other game engines

  • Extensive Software testing and/or development experience

  • Familiarity with COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) tools such as JIRA, qTest, Confluence, Perforce/GitHub

  • Working knowledge of Testing methodologies, CI/CD, and associated technologies that facilitate robust quality assurance practices

  • Strong grasp of Software Development Life Cycles and Agile practices

  • Solid understanding of the art and science of Software Quality Assurance

  • Gaming industry experience preferred

  • Certifications in Quality Assurance

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Effective at providing direction and leadership to both direct reports and cross-functional teams

  • Keeps pace with new developments in testing and gaming technologies

  • Adept at adapting to evolving jurisdictional requirements to enhance test coverage and ensure compliance

  • Skilled in analyzing requirements for testability and guiding the team effectively

  • Ability to lead development of test strategies, test automation frameworks and test methods, and evaluation of test tools

  • Proficient in coaching and guiding SQA engineers on effective test methods and emerging technologies

  • Results driven with ability to take calculated risks and manage multiple priorities

  • Results oriented, risk taking and extensive multi-tasking ability

  • Ability to deep dive into technical areas and discuss those topics with non-technical audience

Physical Requirements:

  • Extensive time in front of LCD's and Electronic Gaming Machine screens

Work Conditions:

  • The ability to move between projects with little notice and the ability to adapt quickly

  • Overtime and weekend hours may be required to meet project schedules

  • Limited travel may be required
