The Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home is seeking a hard working, passionate, and caring Social Worker Supervisor who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of our veterans and their spouses. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Director of Social Work Services is responsible for the planning, directing and controlling of a full range of social services and activities for the nursing and personal care residents of the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home.

As a Social Worker Supervisor, you will be responsible for directing operations by establishing departmental policies and procedures, assigning duties and responsibilities, establishing performance standards, supervising employee performance and conducting employee performance reviews. In this vital role, you will have the opportunity to participate in the admissions process, conduct tours of the center and interview newly admitted veterans. This position works to obtain any additional benefits for veterans being admitted to our facility, as well as processes discharges from the center by ensuring all necessary discharge policies are followed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 7.5 hours/day; 37.5 hours/week
  • Work hours, 1st shift, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Hours may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel and overtime as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Social Worker 2 or a Forensic Social Worker 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); and a master's degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • Three years of professional social work experience, including one year in a consultative, administrative, advisory, or lead work capacity; and a master's degree in social work or social welfare.

Condition of Employment:

  • You must possess a valid license as a Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
