DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A Senior Center Operator 1 will organize, plan and schedule activities for participants in programs offered by the senior center. You will have the opportunity to identify the needs and interests of consumers, and plan and coordinate recreation, nutritional and educational programs to meet those needs. Work includes checking food deliveries, training volunteers in food handling, collecting donations, and evaluating the success of center services in accomplishing program goals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment
  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Monroe County. If no eligible candidates who live within Monroe County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
