The Instructional Designer will oversee and design training programs and materials across the organization from an individual who will keep abreast of various training delivery techniques, business processes, products and systems in several functional areas. This will be done in accordance with management and functional leaders to gather information on business needs to design instructor-lead, Web-based and e-learning training including training processes and procedures. Will identify training needs for facilitator guides as wells as train the trainer sessions by gathering Web-based techniques and interactive learning strategies. As a key resource to others, you must maintain a high degree of accuracy along with attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to always meet deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Discovery and Customer Experience Management



  • Collaborate and consult with key business leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Communicate proactively to provide project status updates to supervisor, requester and other business leader


Project Management



  • Create project plan and ensure overall project is delivered on schedule and within scope
  • Manage project within established scope, timeline, quality standards and resourcing
  • Troubleshoot and appropriately escalate issues as they arise


Design and Development



  • Work independently with stakeholders to design overall learning and communication approaches
  • Design and develop self-paced learning, instructor-led and e-learning
  • Collaborate with business SMEs to ensure that existing curriculum remains relevant and accurate
  • Collaborate with customers to develop and distribute agile communications to support change


Implementation Support and Measurement



  • Identify ongoing and re-training needs and recommend solutions
  • Participate in internal continuous improvement efforts by offering ideas and creative solutions to improve policies, processes and tools

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Instructional Design and Modern Learning methodology
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Experience with Captivate, Articulate Studio, Camtasia, Storyline, and/or Photoshop
  • Project Management skills



Preferred Qualifications:



  • SharePoint experience
  • WebEx experience
  • Experience designing and developing training for adults in a corporate environment
  • Healthcare experience
  • Ability to develop training content at a faster-than-industry pace
  • Demonstrated solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience supporting claims, insurance, and/or medical billing for organizations



The hourly range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
