Position Purpose







This position functions at the executive level to provide leadership to oversee the delivery of the highest quality nursing care. This position is accountable for planning, organizing, and directing services within Renown Regional and certain Renown Health affiliated departments. The incumbent assures that cost effective and high quality patient care is delivered through the departments under his/her responsibility in accordance with Federal, State, and Joint Commission requirements and organizational goals.

This position ensures the continuous and timely availability of nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical services to patients. This position ensures that nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical standards of patient care practices are consistent with current research findings and nationally recognized professional standards. This position supports the implementation of the findings of current research into the policies and procedures governing the provision of nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical care.

This position also ensures that nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical service staff carry out applicable processes in patient care and organization-wide functions and assigns responsibility to individuals or groups of nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical staff members to act on improving performance.

This position actively participates in the acute care hospitals leadership functions, and collaborates with other members of leadership in designing patient care and services. This position participates with system leaders in providing qualified nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical staff, ensuring excellent care for patients, and is fiscally responsible for budgeting resources for the provision of patient care.









Nature and Scope







As part of the Renown Health senior leadership team, the incumbent is a major contributor to the strategic positioning of the acute division to ensure competitiveness in the market place.

This position collaborates with leadership to conduct proactive planning and organizational wide systems development. This position along with other senior executives is responsible for directing and implementing strategic financial planning and cost containment for the acute division. This position also promotes superior quality customer service and ensures Renown Health is the local choice for care.

This position must have the ability to ensure the delivery of optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families.

Evidence based nursing practice, along with critical thinking skills are required to provide optimally safe patient care when interacting with internal and external contacts and exercising judgment and making decisions. Professional nursing practice is congruent with the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

The incumbent plays a key role in ensuring a continued pipeline of newly graduated nurses into the organization, this position must develop and maintain strong partnerships with the Deans, Directors, and Faculty of the nursing and other ancillary clinical programs in Northern Nevada and throughout the state and region.

Nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical policies and procedures, clinical standards of patient care, and standards of nursing are approved by the CNO of Acute Services or a designee(s).

This position provides his/her subordinates with overall administrative direction related to the organization, policy setting, budget preparation, long range planning and integration of functions.

This position does not provide patient care.

Description



Education:



Must have college-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Master's Degree in healthcare administration, nursing or related field. Doctoral degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field preferred.



Experience:



Minimum of five years of progressive experience in a similar size facility. Experience in care coordination and its role with the direct caregivers required. Experience in an integrated health system preferred.



License(s):



Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.



Certification(s):



Professional Certification preferred.



Computer / Typing:



Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
