Overview

The Executive Director, Blood Operations at CBC KC leads the division in alignment with New York Blood Center (NYBCe) strategic goals, overseeing blood collection, donor recruitment, and community relations to achieve both short- and long-term objectives. This role ensures coordination of CBC KC's efforts with other divisions in the Midwest Region and centralized enterprise functions to meet key performance indicators (KPIs). The Executive Director fosters innovation, driving measurable outcomes in donor recruitment, collection growth, and enhanced donor experience.



Responsibilities

The Executive Director, Blood Operations at CBC KC leads the division in alignment with New York Blood Center (NYBCe) strategic goals, overseeing blood collection, donor recruitment, and community relations to achieve both short- and long-term objectives. This role ensures coordination of CBC KC's efforts with other divisions in the Midwest Region and centralized enterprise functions to meet key performance indicators (KPIs). The Executive Director fosters innovation, driving measurable outcomes in donor recruitment, collection growth, and enhanced donor experience. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, leading teams responsible for donor recruitment, collections, and inventory management in a donor- and customer-focused, efficient, and compliant manner. The Executive Director ensures resources are effectively allocated and directly oversees Donor Recruitment, Collections and other key departments to meet collection goals and maintain excellence in operations. The Executive Director is also responsible for divisional employee engagement, donor satisfaction, and cultivating a positive workplace environment, reinforcing the organization's reputation as a workplace of choice.

Key responsibility for the role include the following essential functions:

Strategy Development, Tactical Planning, and Execution
* Develops, communicates, and implements a road-map to achieve the growth targets for the CBC KC division.
* Establishes divisional performance criteria, donor recruitment targets, and collection goals.
* Maintains strong coordination among departments and attains interdepartmental and regional cooperation.
* Leads, develops, and conducts succession planning exercises for blood operations leaders.
* Recommends process, operational, and site improvements.
* Evaluates new donor center options and center improvements.
* Ensures employees have adequate training resources and vigorous competency exams.
* Implements best practices, driving consistency in operational processes across the territory.
* Relentlessly pursues innovation and improvements in donor experience and customer service.
* Develops community & corporate relationships that increase awareness of the need for blood collections and support growth initiatives.
* Oversees and participates in strategic growth initiatives in alignment with annual operational performance and financial goals.
* Supports the financial budget, capacity planning, and optimization of resource allocation (FTEs, vehicles, collections equipment.)
* Monitors expenses, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and optimizes resource utilization to maximize efficiency and productivity.
* Under the guidance of the Quality and Regulatory department, ensures regulatory compliance is well communicated and adhered to.

Matrix Partnership
* Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
* Partners closely with the Enterprise Donor Engagement (EDE) team to align on and support marketing, media, donor experience, and communications activities.
* Actively collaborates with enterprise functions such as Logistics, Supply Chain, IT, HR, Finance, Laboratory Services, Quality, Facilities and other departments to execute regional strategies and goals.
* Partners with matrix functions to drive excellence in collections operations.

Talent Development
* Drives talent recruitment, development, and retention (in partnership with HR.)
* Responsible for fostering a positive work environment and inspiring a culture in which employees deliver an exceptional donor experience and customer service.

Business Continuity and Crisis Management
* Acts as the local Business Continuity leader in case of unexpected disruption to operations.
* Identifies business risks, runs scenarios, conducts feasibility analyses, communicates effectively to mitigate harm to all impacted personnel and company assets.
* Actively takes reasonable steps to mitigate the impact of a force majeure event in an unforeseeable catastrophe by immediately evaluating the situation and allocating resources appropriately.
* Actively update the senior leadership with appropriate level of escalation while keeping documentary records of different mitigation options considered and steps taken throughout the catastrophe remediation.



Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, economics, business administration, health administration, or STEM. MBA preferred.

Experience:

* 12 years of previous operations management experience in a healthcare, hospitality or service sector. Non-profit experience is a plus.
* Experience overseeing muti-location, customer-facing operations is preferred.
* Financial acumen, and a working knowledge of marketing and hospitality principles.
* Broad understanding of supply chain and lean six-sigma principles.

Travel:

Up to 25% within the region and to other regions

License:

This role requires a valid drivers license.

Knowledge:

Strong command over MS Excel and MS PowerPoint; familiarity with Tableau, Spotfire, and other data visualization and analytical software packages a plus. Knowledge of Salesforce would be an advantage.
