Introduction

The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join the Forensic & Psychological Services team as a master's level Social Work or Professional Counselor Intern. Job Summary

The Social Work or Professional Counselor Intern will provide mental health support, risk assessments, individual and group mental health and substance abuse treatment services, psychiatric screening, crisis intervention, and case management services to incarcerated individuals at the Adult Detention Center (ADC), the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC), as well as the Youth Shelter.
In this role, you will work with a multidisciplinary team and maintain ongoing communication with correctional and medical staff to ensure safety and continuity of care. The intern will be responsible for maintaining all clinical records and documentation according to federal, state, and agency policies and procedures.
Internship Program Overview:
* In addition to having primary supervision from a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor, interns may be part of supervision groups within their team, and they may participate in a supervision group designed for interns.
* Interns will be provided with training from staff in the evidence- based models used in our programs.
* Program hours are completed on-site and in-person during normal business hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm with some evening hours until 7:00 pm).
* There is no stipend for the internship. This is an unpaid internship and requires an agreement between the school and the MHSADS department.


Minimum Qualifications

Program Eligibility Requirements:
* Eligibility for the program is open to Mental Health Counseling students completing a Practicum/Internship and MSW 2nd year students.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Special Requirements
* Must be fitted for N-95 (or similar) mask to safely provide on-site services as needed.
Post Conditional Offer Contingencies
Placement is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
