Job Overview
As an Engineer supporting cyber resiliency at T-Mobile, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our most critical assets and ensuring their resilience against cyber attacks. Your responsibilities will include asset management, backups, and recovery testing. You will implement the cybersecurity strategy to protect T-Mobile's critical infrastructure and services, ensuring they are robust and resilient to high-impact cyber threats.
In this role, you will collaborate with various teams to classify and manage critical assets, complete and validate backup processes, and conduct recovery testing to ensure the effectiveness of our cyber contingency plans. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and availability of T-Mobile's services, thereby protecting the company from potential disruptions and ensuring business continuity.
Responsibilities
- Work with critical asset owners to maintain a catalogue of critical asset, perform asset management, backups, and recovery testing.
- Classify critical assets and ensure they are immutably backed up and recoverable.
- Conduct tabletop exercises and recovery tests to validate the effectiveness of backup and recovery processes.
- Build documentation for Incident Response, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery Planning
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure alignment on cyber resiliency objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in cyber resiliency practices and processes.
- Anticipate, identify, and address issues with tight timelines.
- Organizes large scale analysis efforts spanning multiple departments.
- Collaborates and builds long-term relationships with key collaborators. Anticipates likely partnerr responses to specific recommendations and can address accordingly.
- Leads information security review of new technologies, designs, and remediation planning efforts.
- Collaborates with Engineering & Operations Teams to address telco and application security vulnerabilities.
- Proactively identifies process or technology improvements within existing legacy applications or infrastructure and seeks out remediation.
- Investigates and/or leads identifying security needs & recommends plans/resolutions. Implements, tests & monitors info security improvements.
- Maintains visibility inside & outside of information security at the Executive (Director/Sr Director) level. Works with groups such as application support, engineering ops, finance, privacy, risk management, etc.
- Significant experience with the analysis of underlying technologies that form the solution necessary for the application of threat identification, analysis, and thread model design. The threat model depicts trust boundary, threat agent(s), threat vector(s), and safeguard(s) necessary to protect person, asset, data, and T-Mobile brand.
- Proactively identifies areas that need to be developed and seeks out expertise in those areas. Stays ahead of current developments and trends and can use this knowledge to create a case to address major issues and create specific action plans to address the gaps that the team controls. Plays a leadership role in the execution of that action plan.
- Leads security projects driven by groups both internal and external to info security.
- Domain expert in multiple facets of network & information security, business continuity, disaster recovery, asset management, recovery testing, and other topics as assigned.
- Understanding of IP/Security solutions & technologies applicable to the Wireless Network Architecture.
- Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent work experience
Work Experience
- 2-4 years Experience with increasing responsibility with security related software and/or business process design (Required)
- 2-4 years' Experience with the following: project/team lead, telco expertise, and facilitation of multi-functional solution design teams.
- 2-4 years' Technical Project Management
- Incident Response and Recovery Planning - Experience with developing and implementing incident response plans, disaster recovery strategies, and business continuity plans.
- Be authority in multiple security subject areas.
- Experience with high level design architecture, security technologies, networking, web services and SOA.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of endpoint protection and secure architecture design.
- Knowledge of current technological trends and developments in the area of info security.
- Ability to create technical specifications and requirements and work independently. Able to quickly adapt to new or evolving technologies related to new product & services requiring validation or research.
- Strong verbal and communication skills with diverse multi-functional groups. Ability to communicate advanced concepts to leadership, peers, and others in subordinate roles.
- Always act with tact and integrity, and collaborate with a variety of individuals in a positive and productive manner.

- Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks to complete independently, as well as delegate and track progress within the team, all within the time frame established.

- Strong presentation skills to large and small audiences.
- Understanding load balancers (ex - A10, F5), firewalls (ex - CheckPoint), Venafi, MDM (ex - Mobile Iron), Cloud (ex - AWS, Azure), Malware Protection (ex -FireEye), Advanced Persistent Threats (ex - Damballa), Privileged Accounts (ex - CyberArk), SIEM (ex - ArcSight), Log & Event (ex - Splunk), Intrusion IDS/IPS (ex - Symantec), Cloud Platform (ex - PCF, Docker), Scanning (ex - Qualys), AppSec (ex - Veracode)
- Expert understanding of T-Mobile's network elements and how they work together (EIT, Engineering & 3rd Party).
- Advance knowledge of Scripting tools (Python/Perl/Shell/HTML/PHP)
- Knowledge of federal & compliance regulations e.g. SOX, PCI & CPNI
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) CISSP and/or CCSK and/or CCSP and/or CISA/CISM certification a plus (Preferred)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) (Preferred)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $79,900 - $144,100
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
