Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent hybrid opportunity for a Business Development Specialist, Corporate based in Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco or Washington DC.

The Opportunity: We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Business Development Specialist to join our Corporate BD team. This role plays a key part in driving revenue growth by supporting the strategic marketing and business development initiatives of our M&A and Private Equity, Capital Markets, Compensation & Benefits, and Tax practice groups. The position reports to the Corporate BD Manager and sits within our broader Sector & Markets Business Development team.

What will I do? As a BD Specialist, you will help support pitches, client insights, event management, directory submissions and storytelling to communicate our sector capabilities effectively. You will also support efforts such as client targeting, lateral integration and more. In this highly collaborative role, you will work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver impactful business development support to the Corporate business unit and ensure alignment with broader firm priorities.

How will I spend my time? You will spend most of your time on these responsibilities:


Responsibilities

  • Business Development Execution: Support thought leadership campaigns, maintain data accuracy, and support technology-driven BD initiatives across the Corporate business unit.
  • Practice Group Support: Assist with strategic BD activities including pitches, event coordination, client targeting, lateral integration and marketing collateral.
  • Collaboration & Delivery: Work independently and within cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, timely execution of deliverables.
  • Team Engagement: Actively participate in team meetings, contribute to planning discussions, and support the evaluation and implementation of new tools and technologies.
  • Professional Growth: Strengthen project management capabilities through firm-sponsored training and self-directed learning.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of marketing or business development experience, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience required; marketing, business, communications, English, or other related discipline preferred.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to balance competing needs and continually prioritize tasks.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage time to balance various responsibilities and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Project Coordination: Ability to assist in planning and organizing projects with attention to detail and a focus on efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Espouses a positive, team-first attitude and works effectively with team members.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with firm marketing systems such as Foundation and InTapp Deal Cloud; proficiency with generative AI tools preferred.
  • Content Support: Excellent copywriting and editing skills; understanding of digital publishing and content creation a plus.
  • Subject-Matter Knowledge: Familiarity with issues related to project finance, infrastructure development, and/or public/private partnerships a plus

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • California Major Markets* $71,000 - $93,000
  • New York City $74,000 - $93,000
  • National $69,000 - $86,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography.
