Scope of Position
The Surgical Oncology Pancreas Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the surgical oncology database, recruiting patients to the biorepository and coordinating the acquisition of time-sensitive samples for patients treated in surgical oncology for both malignant and premalignant lesions. The coordinator will build assist with implementation and coordination of projects; will screen and recruit patients for specimen collection, coordinate processing of specimens, collection of clinical data, and administration of the database, including IRB, continuing progress reports. This position will work with a multi-disciplinary team to implement the bio banking repository for surgical oncology patients. The position requires direct patient contact including obtaining consent for and entering information into the biorepository. The position will use software to track new and follow up patients through the care continuum of both programs. The position will also work closely with the lab to run experiments and generate data from tissue samples collected to find new and better ways to detect, diagnose, treat and prevent disease.
Position Summary
The Surgical Oncology Pancreas Program Coordinator will organize and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the biorepository and database for the surgical oncology biorepository. The coordinator will use expertise to provide overall program management of the biorepository by screening/consenting patients, collecting/processingspecimens (including tissue fixation, cell isolation from fresh blood, in vitro establishment of cell lines ect.), and manage multiple data elements associated with the program. The coordinator will collect longitudinal data on patient treatment and outcomes during their cancer journey and ensure appropriate appointments are scheduled. The coordinator develops, aligns, and operationalizes the clinical, academic, and research activities to support the overall Cancer Program goals and to ensure the implementation of key OSUCCC-The James initiatives through interdisciplinary collaboration. The position will start after the candidate has received proper biosafety training, HIPAA training and bloodborne pathogen training.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelors Degree in biological sciences, health sciences, social sciences or medical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications

For Patient Interfacing focused positions:

At least one year of experience that included at least 6 months patient interfacing experience in a clinical support capacity and at least 6 months experience in a clinical research capacity required; proficient computer skills required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
