The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching, coordinating, organizing, and prioritizing patient transport request from intensive care, step down, procedural areas, laboratories, clinics, and patient units. If technicians are not available be prepared to respond and assist with medical emergencies such as Mass Transfusion Protocols, Code Blue, and Rapid Response. Be alert to respond to Telemetry messages from MX-40 monitor and notify clinicians or CM technicians. If paged for MTP's (Mass Transfusion Protocols), use analytical skills to assign the "emergency response to the nearest MTP patient transport tech". If none available, the Dispatcher is responsible for responding to the MTP directly. The Dispatcher demonstrates knowledge of Radiology and Patient transportation operations and processes. Responsible for problem solving and directing assigned team members. Uses communication devices to effectively communicate with nursing units and Patient Transport Techs and Specialists. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, able to handle high volume of calls, multitask, and manage stress.

Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of six months patient transport experience Previous customer service experience in a professional setting Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc. Strong organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills
Experience PREFERRED: Two (2) years' experience as a Patient Transporter Previous Tele-tracking experience
Education/training REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED: Post high school coursework in a healthcare related field
Independent action(s) required: Must be able to multi-task, analyze work flow and prioritize work assignments in high pace environment Problem solves issues, makes decision about daily assignments and possesses good organizational skills. Good customer service and analytical skills
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Provides input to supervisors with regards to progressive disciplinary process. Assumes supervisory role in the absence of the Supervisor. Ensures policies and procedures are followed by team members.
Additional position requirements: Must be prepared to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, extended hours and during inclement weather to ensure patient flow and throughput. Employee is subject to outside environment conditions when providing requested services.
