World Languages: Language Proficiency Tester
The International Center for Language Studies (ICLS) is a woman-owned, independent language institution based in Washington, DC with over 58 years of experience delivering high-quality training in ESL and foreign languages to government and corporate partnerships. The ICLS mission is to offer learner-centered language training that develop authentic target language use, focus on individual goals, and enable students to be successful in a global environment. This is a public announcement to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies for potential consideration. This notice is to gather applications that may or may not result in a selection. ICLS is currently seeking experienced Language Testers to assess the language proficiency. These high-stake assessments will be conducted by a trained testing team that uphold the highest level of professionalism to ensure validity and test reliability. Languages Assessed: Afrikaans Arabic (Egyptian) Arabic (Levantine) Arabic (MSA) Arabic (Iraqi) Arabic (Saudi) Albanian Amharic Armenian (Eastern) Akan (Twi, Asante) Bengali Bulgarian Cantonese Czech Dari Farsi (Persian) Finnish French Georgian German Greek Gujarati Haitian Creole Hakka Hausa Hebrew Hindi Indonesian Italian Japanese Javanese Khmer Kiswahili Korean / North Korean Lao Lithuanian Malagasy Malay Mandarin Chinese Mandingo Nepali Nepalese Polish Portuguese (Brazilian) Portuguese (Continental) Romanian Russian Spanish Swedish Tagalog Tamil Telugu Thai Tajik Tigrinya Turkish Uighur Ukrainian Urdu Vietnamese Wolaita Wolof Yoruba lelo Hawaii Requirements: * Knowledge of and experience with the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level Descriptions and/or ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines * Thorough experience in profiling and scoring language samples in high-stake testing situations * Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaboratively work on a testing team (on Zoom and/or in-person) * Intuitive attention to detail and innate ability to multitask * Welcoming, empathetic, patient and calm nature that reads well both in a virtual setting and in-person environment * Ability to seamlessly adapt to situations on the spot * Complete all online training provided by the International Center for Language Studies (ICLS) Preferred: * Master's degree, preferably in the field of languages or education * Familiarity with government testing formats (eg. OPI, Department of State, and Department of Defense DLPT) * Security Clearances (if applicable): public trust, secret, top secret (TS) Please submit your resume highlighting your testing experience.
