Job Summary
This position is responsible for preparing and implementing crime prevention and education programs and provides outreach coordination for crime prevention programs. Identifies and develops prevention programs in the areas of drugs, violence, gang activity, and youth-specific laws. Arranges educational and public information programs to prevent illegal drug activity and other crime related behavior. Uses a variety of methods and forums to inform the general public, various service organizations, and the information media of the hazards of drugs and violence and other teen-related illegal activity. May solicit funding special funding such as local, state, and federal grants for support of programs and writes proposals for funding. Represents the Choose Not To Use and County Attorney's Office at various meetings, special task forces, and in multi-agency initiatives concerning drug and violence education and prevention. Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
This part-time position works 24 hours per week.
Essential Duties
Organizes the Choose Not To Use fundraiser.
Works directly with law enforcement and other County departments to gain ideas, promote shared objectives, and ensure there are no duplication efforts (e.g., Take it to the Box).
Represents the County Attorney's Office by participating on various meetings/committees.
Raises funds through donations and grants.
Works the hours and/or shifts assigned and begins and ends work on time.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires equivalency of an Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Communication, Legal Studies or a related field. Preference given for prior experience working as an event coordinator or fundraiser, excellent written and verbal communication, including public speaking, and the ability to manage complex work plans and time lines. The incumbent shall have a valid driver's license and provide a reliable means of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities.
Selection Process
Selection for this position will be based on a minimum qualifications screening and rating of training and experience. Top candidates will be forwarded to the hiring manager or supervisor for consideration for interview and/or additional assessments. Final selection will include a background check and approval by the County Board.
