Job Summary The Director, Field Analytics & Insights - Strategic Initiatives in Genentech is a strategic player and coach leader responsible for guiding the development and execution of analytics strategies that inform Genentech's Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG) planning efforts. This individual serves as a key advisor to the Field Analytics & Insights (FAI) leadership team and enables advancements in novel field analytics and initiatives that impact all 30 ecosystems. This leader may also advise senior leaders across the Customer Engagement (CE) Network, performing analytical deliverables and presentations to Customer Engagement, Field Medical, Squad, and Function Leaders, ensuring that actionable insights and strategic recommendations are aligned with organizational goals. The Director leads national-level field strategic initiatives and analysis. The Director collaborates and orchestrates across functional teams to identify critical business needs and solutions, oversee the integration of analytical workstreams, and drive initiatives that enhance patient and organizational value across 30 ecosystems and across field, medical and squad as necessary. By fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, this role plays a pivotal part in leading a team and shaping the strategic direction of field analytics across the enterprise. Key Responsibilities
Drive critical business decisions as a strategic advisor and thought partner to Genentech senior leadership, including Customer Engagement, Field Medical, Squad and US Leadership Team members, by creating integrated insights. Advise and converse fluently with VPs and SVPs including Squad Leads, CE Leadership, Field Medical Leadership, Functional Leadership, and senior leaders within Data, Digital, and Analytics teams as a formal member of Field Leadership. Lead national-level field strategic initiatives and analysis, such as field sizing, sourcing strategies, field role configuration and deployment, brand/LE launch, and other initiatives - driving alignment across regions and informing enterprise-wide decision-making. Shape near-term and mid-term priorities rooted in the patient and provider experience and outcomes. Enable action and bring future focus (e.g. technology and AI, new analytical methods, healthcare trends, and capability development) to drive and execute on strategy and priorities. Build strong relationships with business leaders and senior leaders within Data, Digital, and Analytics teams to drive seamless collaboration across field stakeholders. Prioritize highest impact work and assess plans regularly to adjust accordingly. Be an enterprise steward and communicate rationale for tradeoffs. Innovate analytical methods and shape data-driven decision making capabilities while identifying areas for automating and standardizing for scale across the portfolio to make FAI work more efficiently and effectively. Serve as the lead sponsor of activation for analytical products where Field Analytics & Insights is the end user. Partner and collaborate closely with the Business Product Owner(s) and Activation Lead(s) to ensure FAI integrates products into their workflows and provides productive feedback to achieve adoption measures and utilization. Stays abreast of internal and external trends and ensures the same among their team to evolve the team's work as necessary to stay current and relevant to the business. Contribute to continuous organizational improvement by sharing best practices, identifying and executing opportunities for automation, and enhancing the efficiency and impact of analytic workflows. Demonstrate mastery in tailoring communication to specific audiences, communicating and influencing senior leaders and simplifying details for stakeholder buy-in. Proactively identify and address dynamic resourcing needs by providing prioritization guidance to analysts, while flowing talent and other resources to the highest business needs. Demonstrates a strategic, agile and customer-centric mindset to achieving business objectives. Develop, catalyze and entrench new solutions and ways of working into FAI and the business. Looks ahead to see what FAI should be incorporating into how FAI does analytics for the Field and Field Network. Work flexibly within a modular team structure to quickly adapt to shifting priorities, addressing a wide range of business needs and delivering impactful insights across Payer, Provider, Patient, and Market/Geography domains. Who You Are Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree. 8 years of relevant work experience (management consulting, strategy, or other analytical work). 2 years demonstrated ability to coach and lead teams and projects, lead people to drive predetermined outcomes Growth Mindset. Experience leading national-level field strategic initiatives and analyses. Experience synthesizing concise summaries focused on the key insights that inform business decisions. Outstanding partnering skills, exceptionally strong and highly effective working relationships with internal customers, partners and stakeholders. Comfortable dealing with uncertainty in a highly-matrixed organization. Strong results orientation and adaptability in a fast-faced environment. Persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Computer or Physical Sciences, Statistics, or related field. MBA or Graduate-level Degree. Excellent strategic & analytical skills: demonstrable abilities to orchestrate across stakeholders and create aligned business analysis practices and resources in direct support of business partner needs, challenges, issues, etc. Experience in biopharma, healthcare environment, managed care, customer engagement/sales, marketing, and/or patient access. Knowledge of pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization. Mastery in exploring large amounts of data, identifying important insights, and building compelling narratives. Proficiency in understanding market landscape and surfacing insights across multiple primary and secondary data sources. Proficient with data analytics tools (excel, python, SQL, Dataiku, etc.) Proven track record of leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork.
Location
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $174,000 - 323,180. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
