Overview The Child Life Assistant is responsible for assisting Child Life Specialist with inpatient planning, implementing, and evaluating activities and interactions for the playroom and at the bedside, to support development, meet emotional needs and provide diversion. CLA is also responsible for promoting a family centered care environment in the healthcare center, observing responses of children and families and reporting observations to Child Life Specialist. Responsibilities The CLA will serve as point person for scheduling, organizing, and accepting donations that come to the Child Life Department. The CLA will also oversee the training and scheduling of Child Life volunteers in conjunction with running the playroom. The CLA will collaborate across multiple disciplines throughout UPH and will be an administrative resource for the Child Life and Family Centered Services team. Qualifications The Child Life Assistant is responsible for assisting Child Life Specialist with inpatient planning, implementing, and evaluating activities and interactions for the playroom and at the bedside, to support development, meet emotional needs and provide diversion. CLA is also responsible for promoting a family centered care environment in the healthcare center, observing responses of children and families and reporting observations to Child Life Specialist. 2+ years with child development and/or experience in education and an associates degree preferred. |
